Species Name: Selaginella spp. (S. uncinata, S. kraussiana, or S. plana) 

Common name(s): Spikemoss, Lesser Club Mosses 

Defining Characteristics: 

• Not a species of true moss but instead a type of lycophyte, one of the oldest groups of vascular plants on earth
• Scaly, coarse foliage
• Humidity loving and would do well in a tropical terrarium
• Grows out instead of up, creating a lovely groundcover

Care Notes: Hardy species of moss that works well in animal terrariums. Although this species does not tolerate full sun for extended periods of time. Partial sun and high humidity environments are preferred for healthy plants.
